HAND PAINTED PLASTER BUSTS – 10 Inches High & 7 Inches Width

The Jasna Gora Monastery, where the image known as “The Black Madonna” is found, is almost a mandatory stop for any pilgrim visiting Poland. The icon of the Virgin of Czestochowa is one of the most venerated in Poland and Europe, and represents the Virgin Mary with the Child in her arms. Throughout history, he has suffered several attacks that have left marks on his face and neck.

STORY ABOUT HER
One of the best-known miracles was the Miracle of the Vistula: on September 14, 1920, when the Russian army settled on the Vistula River and prepared to invade the city of Warsaw, the people turned to the Virgin Mary. The next day, the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows, the Russian army withdrew after the image of the Virgin appeared in a cloud over the city.

Years later, at the beginning of World War II, the Germans invaded and captured Poland. After having taken the city of Warsaw, one of Hitler’s orders was to cancel all pilgrimages since they strengthened the Polish people.

In demonstration of love for the Black Madonna and confidence in her protection, half a million Poles secretly traveled to the sanctuary against Hitler’s orders. After the liberation of the city in 1945, one and a half million people expressed their gratitude by praying in front of the miraculous image.

WHEN DO WE PRAY HER?
We pray to the Madonna for enlightenment, guidance in difficult times, hope and salvation. We ask her to be our model for a full, clean life and thus be part of the project that God has for all of us. Help us to be victorious after defeat, to have faith and peace in our soul.

Holy Mother of Czestochowa, Thou art full of grace, goodness and mercy. I consecrate to Thee all my thoughts, words and actions, my soul and body. I beseech Thy blessings and especially prayers for my salvation. Today, I consecrate myself to Thee, Good Mother, totally with body and soul amid joy and sufferings to obtain for myself and others Thy blessings on this earth and eternal life in Heaven. Amen.
